Day 1: Arrive in Milan and transfer to hotel.

Day 2: Milan to Passo Spluga – 195 km / miles 121

Leaving Milan we will head east, a short stretch of motorway to Bergamo that leads to the first pass, that of San Marco and then, after a great many twists and turns for more than 90 kilometers, we will arrive at Morbegno and veer west to go towards the Spluga pass, the arrival point of our first day. The Valley has a spectacular view, to say the least, and has been the pas-sage of prehistoric man throughout time. A really impressive stage of the trip.

WHAT TO SEE ALONG THE ROUTE:

Park of the Bergamask Orobie. The Orobie are a mountain range, eighty kilometres long, made up of peaks, ridges, valleys, fields, forests, woods and natural environments of extraordinary value, dotted with pastures, farms, villages and mountain refuges, all located between summits that touch 3,000 metres and wide undulating countryside that precedes the plain.

Valchiavenna is a gateway to nearby Switzerland, offers a wide range of options, including culture, art, food and wine, sports and a wealth of nature

The Passo dello Spluga is an international high mountain pass, at an elevation of 2.115 m (6,939 ft) above the sea level, on the border between Switzerland and Italy.

Day 3: Splügen Pass to Andermatt – 319 km / miles 198

We will depart and we will be in a moment in Switzerland through the San Bernardino pass direct to Biasca, where we will begin the approach to the fireworks in the heart of the route: the passage of Lucomagno, Oberalppass to go down to Andermatt. The 4 steps form a road that resembles an 8, at this point, we will be in the middle. The arrival in Grimsell from the north will be literally incredible. A series of emerald green glacial springs and lakes will try to interrupt the road in some places in a tortuous and absolutely panoram-ic way, we will manage to avoid all obstacles without care. A show!

WHAT TO SEE ALONG THE ROUTE:

Oberalppass/Andermatt: The village of Andermatt was the place in the James Bond movie Goldfinger, where Bond did stop at a gas station after he had killed the ladies tires on her cabrio. This gas station is still there in the same outfit. From here you can either ride towards Furka pass, the Gotthard pass uphill, or through the Devil’s Canyon down the Gotthard road towards Wassen and then take a left up the Susten pass.

Grimsel Pass: There might be people who compare the Grimsel Pass with a lunar landscape. If you are slowly riding up from Innertkirchen, curve by curve upward in front of the huge dams, for sure you certainly come with this impression. However, the view should preferably fall on the moss-covered granite rocks that are typical for the Grimsel.

Day 4: Grimsel to Livigno  – 367 km / miles 228

In Grimsellpass we will finish an epic day, of course, modifying a bit the direction of our trip. We will pass the 3 steps, we will go to the east of Switzerland the land of mountain passages: Klausen pass, Albula, Bernina, we will close the round and the feast of the alpine passes in Livigno called “little TIBET”.

WHAT TO SEE ALONG THE ROUTE:

Klausenpass (Switzerland) is an Alpine road that takes drivers through a long and winding journey of beautiful scenery full of hidden wonders like waterfalls, charming villages and green landscapes.

The Albula Pass links the Albula Valley with the Engadine. Driving this stretch in the summer guarantees wonderful views like that of the rough, weathered Albula Gorge. With a little luck, you may also spot the Rhaetian Railway on its way through the high mountains and across the impressive stone viaduct. The drive leads up to the summit and the high plateau, though a side trip to the “most beautiful spot in Switzerland”, the Lai da Palpuogna, is an absolute must. The blue-green shimmering lake, with its heavenly setting, was granted this distinction in a public survey by the SRF (Swiss Radio and Television). In the winter, six kilometres of the winding road to the pass are converted into a toboggan run between Preda and Bergun.

Livigno. Situated between the Engadine and the Upper Valtellina, Livigno lies in an enchanting valley stretching across 12 km. Nestling between two mountains ranges progressively descending from an altitude of 3,000 m down to 1,800 m, Livigno is made up of a several of wood and stone buildings. Together with neighbouring Trepalle, an attractive location (with the added distinction as the highest permanent inhabited settlement in Europe), Livigno is today a premium-level Alpine holiday resort. Situated in a pristine natural landscape, there over a hundred modern hotels with all the mod cons, welcoming visitors throughout the year with the traditional hospitality typical of this Alpine area.

Day 5: Livigno to Merano – km252 / miles 156

Another great day, the day of Stelvio, the highest and most famous automobile pass in Italy with its 2757mt, the second highest in Europe, a true legend, one of the roads of European myths, we will go to the Swiss side towards Bormio. Why go to the destination of the day and return from the more challenging side? The answer is simple, logical: to face the passage of Gavia, our favorite, get ready for the extraordi-nary … you will be dazzled by this extraordinary place. The arrival point of the day is Merano, after Gavia, everything will seem obvious: the Passo del Tonale, even the small path carved into the rock to reach Val d’Ullimo, a prelude to the end of the scene. Guys, what a fantastic day!

WHAT TO SEE ALONG THE ROUTE:

The Stelvio Pass is 2758 m asl and links Lombardy to Switzerland and the South Tyrol, only during the summer season) along the highest metalled mountain roads in Europe.

Merano.The spa town of Merano lies in the heart of the region of South Tyrol on the southern side of the Alps. Due to its location, this multicultural city is considered as the gateway to the south of Europe, as well as a meeting place between different cultures.

Day 6: Merano to Cortina – km 214 / miles 133

On the day of travel to the Dolomites, the trip will take us east, we will visit the Monte Giovo Pass to feel the warming up of engines and tires. To enjoy the road we will take the state roads, passing throught fantastic passes as Sella Pass, Pordoi Pass and Giau Pass before reaching Cortina, where we will take a well-earned rest day.

WHAT TO SEE ALONG THE ROUTE:

Monte Giovo Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 2.094m (6,870ft) above the sea level, located in the Alps in the South Tyrol in Italy. The pass is traversed by the Strada Statale 44.

The Three Peaks of Lavaredo, rising on the border between the northernmost section of the province of Belluno and the holiday region Three Peaks/3 Zinnen in the Dolomites, in South Tyrol, are among the best known mountains in the Alps, the more photographed and represented on postcards and calendars.

Day 7: Rest day in Cortina

WHAT TO SEE ALONG THE ROUTE:

Manghen Pass

The way Manghen is an alpine passage of south-east Trentino belonging to the chain of Lagorai and is among the most appreciated ones by the bikers of all over the world. It absolutely represents one of the most famous alpine ways of Giro d’ Italia and is considered particularly hard for its length.

The Lake Caldonazzo

It’s the largest natural lake belonging entirely to Trentino and the warmest of all the Alpine lakes. The clear and warm water can reach up to 27°, unlike most of the mountain lakes, it remains shallow for several meters from the shore.

Lake Carezza

In the western Dolomites there is a small lake, which is known as “Rainbow Lake” and “Fairytale Lake of the Dolomites”.

Riva del Garda

Riva del Garda is the pearl of Garda Trentino. Mediterranean climate, wide and sunny free beaches, enchanting views are the ingredients for a holiday on Lake Garda unforgettable and repeatable at all times. Day 9: Riva del Garda to Milan – km 248 / miles 155

Highlights: Garda Lake, Valvestino lake , Idro lake,  Iseo Lake

The journey is coming to the end but there are still wonderful places to see. From Riva del Garda we ride along Garda Lake end then we will pass through some of the most beautiful Alpine lakes, the Valvestino Lake, Idro lake and the Iseo Lake, then we will take the highway that takes us back to Milan.

WHAT TO SEE ALONG THE ROUTE:

Lake Valvestino

It’s an artificial lake located in the province of Brescia, Lombardy. It was formed by the construction of the Ponte Cola dam on the Toscolano stream in 1962 for the production of hydroelectric energy. The dam is 125m high and 283m wide.

Lake Idro

Lake Idro or Eridio is a lake of glacial origin located in the province of Brescia on the border with Trentino. Located at 368 meters above sea level, it is formed by the waters of the Chiese river which is also its emissary. Its surface is 10.9 km² and reaches a maximum depth of 122 meters

Lake Iseo

The highlight of Lake Iseo is the scenery, hills and mountains but there are various towns and villages around the edges of the lake, usually small but creating an interesting tour when visited together. The best way to enjoy the lake is to follow one of the many hiking trails that lead into the hills and have lovely views across the lake. Many villages have a harbor, fish restaurants and a small historical center to explore, along with a ferry terminal to carry visitors around and across the lake. This is a very pleasant way to explore, since most towns and villages here look at their best when seen from the water.

Day 10: Airport transfer and depart for India.
