This Portugal & Spain Self-Drive and Motorcycle Tour is designed for travellers who enjoy scenic European road trips on four wheels or two.
Covering approximately 1,200–1,400 km over six driving and riding days, the journey follows paved roads through Portugal’s Alentejo and Algarve regions and the beautiful Andalusian countryside of Spain.
Self-drive participants should be comfortable driving on European roads, while motorcycle riders should have previous touring experience.
Weather conditions vary depending on the selected departure. February and November may bring cooler temperatures and occasional rain, while April and September generally offer milder conditions. All participants should be prepared for changing weather and road conditions during the journey.
The itinerary combines enjoyable driving and riding distances with cultural sightseeing, comfortable accommodation and opportunities to explore historic towns and cities.

DAY 01 – ARRIVAL IN LISBON | WELCOME TO PORTUGAL

Welcome to Lisbon, the vibrant capital of Portugal and the starting point of your exciting Portugal & Spain Self-Drive and Motorcycle Tour.
Upon arrival at Lisbon International Airport, you will be welcomed and assisted with your transfer to the hotel. After check-in, enjoy some leisure time to relax or explore the city’s charming streets, historic neighbourhoods and beautiful riverside surroundings.
Depending on your arrival time, you may visit the lively Baixa district, stroll through Alfama or enjoy the atmosphere of Lisbon’s cafés and waterfront.
In the evening, meet your fellow travellers and the Care My Tours team for a welcome gathering and tour briefing. Get acquainted with the group and learn about the upcoming routes, driving and riding arrangements, and safety guidelines.

DAY 02 – LISBON TO ÉVORA | INTO THE HEART OF ALENTEJO
Driving / Riding Distance: Approx. 135 km
After breakfast, begin your self-drive or motorcycle adventure as you leave Lisbon behind and head towards the picturesque Alentejo region.
Enjoy a relaxed journey along scenic paved roads, passing rolling countryside, olive groves, cork oak forests and traditional Portuguese villages.
Your destination is Évora, a UNESCO World Heritage city renowned for its rich history and beautifully preserved architecture. Upon arrival, explore the historic centre, admire the Roman Temple of Évora and discover the charming squares and cobblestone streets.
Enjoy the evening soaking in the relaxed atmosphere of this historic Portuguese town.

DAY 03 – ÉVORA TO TAVIRA | THE SCENIC ROAD TO ALGARVE

After breakfast, continue your journey south through the beautiful Alentejo countryside towards Portugal’s famous Algarve region.
Today’s drive offers a delightful combination of peaceful country roads, gentle hills, rural villages and changing landscapes as you approach the southern coast.
Arrive in Tavira, one of the Algarve’s most charming towns, known for its traditional whitewashed buildings, historic bridges and picturesque setting along the Gilão River.
Spend the evening exploring the old town, strolling along the riverside or relaxing at one of the local cafés and restaurants.

DAY 04 – TAVIRA TO SEVILLE | CROSSING INTO SPAIN
Driving / Riding Distance: Approx. 170 km
After breakfast, depart Tavira and continue east towards the Portugal–Spain border, marking the beginning of the Spanish chapter of your adventure.
Cross into Andalusia and enjoy the changing scenery as you travel towards Seville, one of Spain’s most beautiful and culturally rich cities.
Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy time to discover Seville’s magnificent architecture, historic streets and lively atmosphere.
Highlights include the famous Plaza de España, the impressive Seville Cathedral and the charming Santa Cruz neighbourhood.

After breakfast, set out on a memorable circular drive or motorcycle ride through the picturesque Andalusian countryside.
Travel towards Aracena, a charming town surrounded by the beautiful Sierra de Aracena landscape. The route takes you through wooded hills, scenic paved roads, traditional villages and peaceful rural surroundings.
Enjoy the winding roads and refreshing countryside atmosphere, with opportunities for photography, sightseeing and short refreshment breaks.
Spend some time exploring Aracena, known for its historic castle, traditional streets and beautiful natural surroundings.
Later, return to Seville along scenic countryside roads and enjoy another relaxing evening in the city.

DAY 06 – SEVILLE TO MÉRTOLA | RETURN TO PORTUGAL

DAY 07 – MÉRTOLA TO LISBON VIA BEJA | THE FINAL ROAD TRIP

After breakfast, begin the final driving and riding day of your Portugal & Spain adventure.
Travel north through the scenic Alentejo region, enjoying long stretches of open roads, rolling countryside, cork oak landscapes and traditional Portuguese towns.
Continue via Beja, a historic Alentejo city known for its impressive castle and relaxed atmosphere. Take a break to enjoy the surroundings before continuing towards Lisbon.
Today’s journey offers a final opportunity to appreciate the beautiful Portuguese countryside and reflect on the memorable roads explored over the past week.
Upon arrival in Lisbon, complete the rental vehicle return formalities as per the confirmed arrangements and transfer to your hotel.

DAY 08 – DEPARTURE FROM LISBON | UNTIL WE RIDE & DRIVE AGAIN

After breakfast, enjoy your final moments in Lisbon before checking out from the hotel.
Depending on your flight schedule, you may have some leisure time for last-minute shopping, sightseeing or a relaxing coffee in the city.
Proceed to Lisbon International Airport for your onward journey, bringing your eight-day Portugal & Spain Self-Drive and Motorcycle Tour to a memorable conclusion.
Return home with wonderful experiences, new friendships and unforgettable memories of scenic European roads, historic cities and beautiful countryside.

CANCELLATION & BOOKING POLICY
Minimum Group Size
Care My Tours reserves the right to review or cancel a scheduled departure if the minimum required number of participants is not reached 60 days before the tour start date.
In such circumstances, participants will be offered the following options:
Full Refund: If Care My Tours cancels the departure, the booking deposit paid to Care My Tours will be refunded in full.
Self-Guided Tour: Subject to vehicle and accommodation availability, participants may choose to proceed independently with a rental car or motorcycle at a revised package price, without organised group support.
Small-Group Supplement: Where feasible, Care My Tours may offer to operate the tour with fewer participants at an additional cost, subject to the agreement of all affected participants.
Any alternative arrangement will be communicated and agreed upon before confirmation.
Cancellation by the Participant
Cancellation charges depend on the number of days remaining before the scheduled departure date.
More than 60 days before departure: The booking deposit will be retained as credit towards another Care My Tours departure, valid for 12 months from the original tour start date.
30–60 days before departure: 50% of the total tour package price will be forfeited. The remaining 50% will be retained as credit towards another Care My Tours departure, valid for 12 months from the original tour start date.
Less than 30 days before departure: 100% of the total tour package price will be forfeited. No refund or credit will be provided.
No-Show or Early Departure: No refund will be provided for unused services or voluntary withdrawal after the tour has commenced.
Travel Insurance
Travel, medical, vehicle damage, motorcycle riding and trip cancellation insurance are not included in the tour package unless expressly specified in the confirmed booking.
Participants are strongly advised to purchase comprehensive travel insurance covering medical emergencies, evacuation, trip cancellation and interruption. Motorcycle participants should ensure their policy specifically covers motorcycle riding abroad.
Care My Tours will provide reasonable supporting documentation for insurance claims where applicable.
Driving & Motorcycle Rental Conditions
All drivers and riders must possess a valid driving licence appropriate to their selected vehicle category and comply with the rental company’s documentation requirements.
An International Driving Permit may be required depending on the participant’s licence and the rental supplier’s conditions.
Vehicle security deposits, insurance excess, traffic fines, damage charges and other rental-related liabilities will be governed by the confirmed rental agreement.
Cross-border travel between Portugal and Spain is subject to the rental supplier’s authorisation.
Participants are responsible for following local traffic regulations and operating their rental vehicles safely.
Important Conditions
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to Care My Tours.
Any applicable credit is subject to availability and may be used towards another Care My Tours package. Price differences, if any, will be payable by the participant.
Refunds, where applicable, will be processed to the original payment source wherever possible.
Any non-refundable third-party charges will be handled according to the booking terms communicated to the participant.
Care My Tours may make reasonable itinerary adjustments due to weather, road conditions, safety considerations, local restrictions or circumstances beyond its control.
Hotel and vehicle categories are subject to availability. Any necessary substitutions will be communicated to participants.
The final booking confirmation and agreed package inclusions will determine the services provided.
