Here, time seems to stand still, offering a journey through centuries of history, craftsmanship, and tradition.
Begin at the 14th-century Royal Palace, where magnificent golden gates and lush gardens provide a glimpse into Morocco’s royal heritage. Nearby, explore the Mellah, the historic Jewish quarter, where winding streets and unique balconies tell stories of coexistence and a rich cultural past.
Next, visit the pottery district, where skilled artisans shape clay into exquisite mosaics, plates, and tiles, adorning Morocco’s most beautiful palaces and mosques. Witness the delicate artistry that has been passed down through generations.
Step deeper into history as you enter the 9th-century medina, home to the legendary Al Quaraouiyine University—the oldest continuously operating university in the world, founded by Fatima al-Fihri. Marvel at its breathtaking architecture, a symbol of knowledge and enlightenment through the ages.
Continue to the Chouara Tanneries, where leather is dyed using centuries-old techniques. Watch as artisans skillfully work in the honeycomb vats, creating vibrant hues that bring Fez’s famed leather goods to life. Wander through the buzzing Najjarine Square, home to an intricately carved wooden fountain, and Saffarin Square, a hub of traditional metalworkers shaping intricate designs.

Your first stop is Ifrane, a charming town so pristine it’s often called “Little Switzerland”. With its European-style chalets, manicured parks, and crisp mountain air, it’s a striking contrast to the traditional Moroccan scenery. Take a moment to admire the famous Lion Statue, carved by a German prisoner during World War II, before continuing into the heart of the Middle Atlas.
As the road winds through cedar forests, keep an eye out for the playful Barbary macaques, Morocco’s native primates. A short break allows you to observe these curious creatures as they roam among the towering trees. From here, the journey takes you through rugged mountain landscapes, deep valleys, and dramatic rock formations, revealing the raw beauty of the region.
Midway, stop in Midelt, a lively market town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas ranges. Known for its apple orchards and rich mineral deposits, it’s the perfect place to stretch your legs and sample fresh local produce before continuing towards the desert.
As the altitude drops and the scenery shifts, the Sahara Desert begins to emerge on the horizon. Soon, the towering dunes of Erg Chebbi appear like rolling waves of gold, marking your arrival in Merzouga, one of Morocco’s most iconic desert destinations. Arrive just in time to witness a spectacular Saharan sunset, where the sand glows in mesmerizing shades of amber and crimson.
The adventure deepens with a camel trek across the dunes. Feel the rhythm of the desert as you sway gently on your camel’s back, the only sound being the soft whispers of the wind. This peaceful journey leads you to your Luxury Desert Camp, where the warm embrace of Berber hospitality awaits.
As night falls, indulge in a traditional Moroccan feast beneath a sky ablaze with stars, accompanied by the hypnotic beats of Berber drums and songs. The vastness of the desert and the brilliance of the starlit sky will leave you in awe. Retreat to your comfortable tent, drifting off to sleep with the magic of the Sahara all around you.
Day 7: Merzouga to Ouarzazate – Through Gorges and Valleys

Today’s route takes you from the golden dunes of Merzouga to the cinematic oasis of Ouarzazate, passing through dramatic gorges, lush valleys, and historic kasbahs along the way.
Leaving the desert behind, the scenery transforms from vast, arid expanses to fertile green valleys as you approach the Todra Gorge. Towering limestone cliffs, reaching heights of 300 meters (985 feet), create a breathtaking natural corridor. Take a moment to walk along the cool, clear river that winds through the gorge, where the sheer scale of the rock formations is both humbling and mesmerizing.
Continuing on, ride through the spectacular Dades Valley, often referred to as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs”. This surreal landscape of rose-hued cliffs, winding roads, and ancient fortresses offers some of the most stunning views in Morocco. Pause at one of the many panoramic viewpoints to soak in the scenery, where timeworn kasbahs stand as silent witnesses to history.
Further along, pass through the Skoura Oasis, a lush expanse of palm groves and traditional villages. Known as the “Gateway to the Desert,” Skoura is home to some of Morocco’s most well-preserved kasbahs, including the famed Kasbah Amridil, an architectural masterpiece that has stood for centuries.
As the sun sets, arrive in Ouarzazate, the legendary “Hollywood of Morocco.” This city has served as the filming location for numerous iconic productions, from Gladiator to Game of Thrones.

The route promises a thrilling mix of historical landmarks and stunning natural vistas as you traverse the mighty High Atlas Mountains.
Start your adventure with a visit to Ait Benhaddou, a striking UNESCO World Heritage Site that seems frozen in time. This ancient ksar, with its maze of earthen buildings, has stood for centuries as a testament to Morocco’s rich architectural heritage.
